Revealed: You’ll Never Guess How Oscar Nominee Lupita Nyong’o Got Her Start

Miss Lupita Nyong’o is taking the acting and fashion world by storm. A true student of the arts, Lupita is lighting up red carpets as an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress nominee. Her turn in “12 Years a Slave” has garnered critical acclaim but her grace and poise in the media spotlight has made Lupita a household name.   • Lupita was born in Mexico City, Mexico to Kenyan parents. Her father is a professor and her mother a managing director of the Africa Cancer Foundation. She is one of six children and is fluent in English, Spanish, Swahili and Luo!
  • Lupita came to the United States to get her education and attended Hampshire College as well as the Yale School of Drama. During school she paid her dues as a production assistant on films include, “The Constant Gardner”.
