Hold Your Head High: Here’s How to Get the Confidence Boost You Need to Land the Job You Want

When you walk into an audition room your energy is contagious, so it better be positive! You want to walk into any audition room and own it: make it yours, exude confidence, happiness, and positivity — even if you’re having a bad day — and you’re sure to get a callback. If you’re having a bad day, just turn it around by finding inspiration everywhere and remember WHY YOU STARTED.

This past Saturday night, my friend from college, Siobhan O’Loughlin, performed her one woman piece – “Natural Novice” – as part of Planet Connections. Her piece is funny, thought provoking, and most importantly: it reminds us that what makes us beautiful is our individuality.

While this is a theme that could be considered done to death, Siobhan gave voices (through her own) to all different types of women from all walks of life: this gave it a wonderfully fresh take. I was inspired by the piece because it was a unique and non-cheesy look at self-confidence and beauty. With a feminist twist to boot! So much of the theatre scene can seem preachy or high brow, but this piece was what I needed to see. I needed an ego boost this weekend, and now I feel like I can go to my auditions this week with full belief in myself. What more could we ask for from a piece of theatre and art?
