Wednesday Motivation: Try Positive Affirmations

We all need a little motivation once in a while, right? Let’s face it, acting is a tough gig. From rejection, to insecurity and enormous pressure, it’s important to cultivate ways to pick yourself up. One of my favorite ways to get focused and relaxed is reading my positive affirmations. To visually see these gentle, loving and encouraging words sets me at ease. They are an important reminder to keep my eye on the prize and not get distracted by any negatives in the business. I encourage you to write or print out your favorite positive quotes and have them close at hand. Maybe a quick glance at the one in your wallet will give you the extra confidence you need before meeting with a casting director. I also recommend keeping one in your car, next to your bed and as a sticky note on your computer! To get inspired, I have included some of my go-to’s when I need an extra boost before a big meeting!

“Life has a way of testing a persons will, either by having nothing happen at all or by having everything happen at once” – Paulo Coelho

“Be so good they can’t ignore you” – Steve Martin

“Don’t be afraid to sit in the front row at your life” – Unknown

“Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny” – C.S. Lewis
