*Find a monologue with a character you can relate to and is of a similar age!

*Read the entire play. You want to understand the themes of your monologue as well as your character’s motivation and life story.

*Choose a monologue that features you in a role you could be cast in. This will help the casting director picture you a similar suitable role. Play to your type, especially if you are just starting out!

*Timing is everything. Find a piece that runs between 90 seconds and two minutes. Cut the monologue if necessary to fit in this time frame and leave the casting director wanting more!
