Here’s Our Pick: The Top Three Moments of the 2014 VMAs

Many tuned in Sunday night for MTV’s Video Music Awards. JLo, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce were just a few of the many celebs who attended. Drama had already circulated the event days before it even started; one of Nicki Minaj’s back-up dancers was sent to the hospital from being bitten by a snake during ‘Anaconda’ and Iggy fell off the stage while practicing. Beyonce was the subejct of the night as people tried to guess what she would do for her performance (she announced her pregnancy after performing ‘Love On Top’ last performance at the VMAs).

Here are the top three highlights of the VMAs:

1. Beyonce’s Performance & Acceptance of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award

During her performance, Beyonce reminded everyone why she is the Queen. Her 16-minute performance was full of glam, confidence and nothing short of perfect. Her daughter, Blue Ivy, was spotted dancing along to her performance on Jay Z’s lap. Amid the break-up rumors, Jay Z presented the award to her after the performance where they looked like a happy family.

2. Miley Cyrus’ Acceptance Speech

Miley’s performance last year was the talk of the town (and world) months after she twerked with her foam finger. This year, Miley once again surprised the audience but for a completely different reason. After she won video of the year for ‘Wrecking Ball,’ it wasn’t Cyrus who accepted the award. Instead, it was her date, a man named Jesse who is homeless. He stood in front of the audience bringing awareness to the hidden problem of homelessness.

3. Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj & Jessie J Collaboration

Despite Nicki’s wardrobe malfunction (no nip slips), the trio killed it while performing their new single ‘Bang Bang’. The three were extremely fierce and showed the world that they have pipes.
