Monday Mantra: I Vow to Say Yes to Everything

Last night I watched the film “Liberal Arts” for the first time. The movie stars Josh Radnor and Elizabeth Olsen. Olsen plays a forward co-ed with her eye on Jesse (Radnor), who is 16 years older. In one of the first scenes Elizabeth’s character Zippy describes how in improv you have to say yes to everything. This concept really struck me as an excellent tool for acting and for life. When you are trying to make something happen for yourself, it’s important to test out new experiences. You never know who you may meet or what you may learn from saying YES. Though its not always comfortable to jump into new situations, Zippy shows that by taking a chance you can learn a lot more about yourself and your limits.

This week I am vowing to say YES to new opportunities that come my way. Will you join me? Try out that acting class, apply to the audition, and join the improv troupe. You may get booked for the role of a lifetime or find a new hobby that you love!
