Alex Sharp – it’s a name you will want to remember, due to that the rising star of stage and screen is well on his way to becoming a household name.
Currently starring in the Broadway hit, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Sharp stepped straight out of the gates of Juilliard to take on a part that is beyond captivating, challenging, and flat-out inspiring.
Brilliantly portrayed by Sharp, the character Christopher Boone, a 15-year old mathematician who possibly has Asperger’s syndrome, sets out on a journey in this Oliver Award-winning play to solve the mystery of who killed his neighbor’s dog. Sharp’s character takes us on an unforgettable journey, and he so convincingly brings you into his world that you literally feel like you are experiencing every single moment that the character faces.
Sound intense? Definitely, and we cannot recommend seeing this play enough if you are in the New York area. Sharp’s critically-acclaimed performance has already earned him such accolades as the Clive Barnes Award, and our team would not be surprised if he receives a Tony nomination (and wins).
The role marks Sharp’s very first professional gig, and we can only imagine that this is indeed just the beginning for this highly versatile, skilled actor. Our team is honored to feature this incredibly talented, handsome, and generous artist as our MOGUL Man of February.

MOGUL: What made you want to be an actor?
Alex Sharp: A deep interest in people. Why they do what they do. Acting is an art form that (as all art forms do and should) has no limit to it. The possibility of exploration is infinite. People are all the same, and radically different to each other. I adore Christopher, because he is brave, has endless perseverance and is curious and ever searching the unknown, and pushes me to my limits. I think art can be a kind of religion, just as Math is Christopher’s religion.
MOGUL: What do you think people can learn from your character, Christopher, and what do you hope people will walk away with upon seeing The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time?
Sharp: Christopher Boone is the most beautiful and complex character I have ever been lucky enough to play and he goes on such a wild journey in the play. The beauty of Christopher is in his tireless determination to answer the countless questions he has about the world around him, even when other people find him very difficult to relate to, understand, and accept. He accepts himself as he is, uses his strengths to achieve his goals, and fights through his difficulties. Difference is not only a good thing, but a necessary one. And we should all strive to understand, celebrate and accept difference in ourselves and tolerate it with patience and generosity in others.
MOGUL: How would you describe your Juilliard experience?
Sharp: Very beneficial. It was very intense… But my class, the other 17 people I went through it with, were all so freakin’ talented and driven, which drove me to reach my best everyday. It was quite inspiring honestly, they were a very particular and special group of people, who I have much admiration for.

Sharp: Well, the date went really well. And then I went in for the kiss and was ever so slightly overly eager and we banged teeth, quite hard. What can I say, I was very excited at the prospect of kissing them, and it had been on my mind all night. Well, It killed the vibe, to say the least. But we ended up being together for a while…
