Celeb Discovery Story: How Jessica Chastain Became Hollywood’s Leading Lady Overnight!

Taking the title from Emma Stone and Lindsay Lohan, she’s everyone’s favorite redhead! She transitioned from the unknown girl in California, to Hollywood’s leading lady overnight. She’s Jessica Chastain, but she’s fine with being called, Jes…

Chastain was born and raised in Sacramento, California where she attended El Camino High School. Despite her obvious intellect both on and off the screen, Jes almost didn’t graduate high school on time because of too many absences her senior year. She eventually obtained an “adult diploma” and attended community college.

Jes claims that seeing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with her grandma when she was seven piqued her passion for acting. It must be true because ever since then she started doing local theater, and with the help of a Robin Williams scholarship she was able to attend Julliard School in New York City, and graduate with a B.F.A. degree in 2003.

Since her graduation Jes has done some noticeable and versatile work: she worked Off-Broadway and on network television shows like, ER, Veronica Mars, and Law and Order: Trial By Jury. But Jes’ breakout year was in 2011 when seven of her films all debuted within the same year. And Jes’ success didn’t end there; since then Jes went on to star in several more films, landing her two Oscar nominations, two BAFTA nominations, and three Golden Globe nominations including one win! And as far as awards and nominations go, for Jes, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Jessica Chastain goes to show us that, despite rough beginnings, if you’re passionate and willing to work for what you love, it just might pay off in the end!
