Celeb Discovery Story: How Dakota Johnson Paved Her Own Path to Fame

She’s third-generation Hollywood royalty, she’s an underrated comedienne, and she’s the envy of every girl in America for being the love interest of Christian Grey: ladies and gentleman…she’s Dakota Johnson.

Dakota was born in Austin, Texas, to actors, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Dakota made her acting debut in 1999 when she played the daughter of her real life mother, Griffith, in “Crazy in Alabama”.

It wasn’t until 2010 that Johnson resurfaced in the film industry. Independent of her family connections, Johnson signed with the William Morris Endeavor Agency after she graduated high school, and worked her way to where she is today. In 2010 she appeared in the Oscar Nominated film, “The Social Network” and has appeared in a film every year since.

Many may recognize her from her films like “21 Jump Street”, “Beastly”, and “The Five-Year Engagement”, but since 2014 she will probably be forever remembered as Anastasia Steel – the love interest to Christian Grey, characters from the wildly successful book saga, Fifty Shades of Grey. This is the film that took Johnson from obscure “Melanie Griffith’s daughter,” to Dakota Johnson, a blockbuster superstar!

Johnson is in talks to return for the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels, but don’t think she’s a one trick pony! Dakota has a lot ahead of her: She has two more films being released this year alone, and is already filming another one, “How To Be Single”, in New York City. “How To Be Single” is actually holding casting calls, and YOU could be part of this, bound to be, Dakota Johnson hit!
