Celeb Discovery Story: How Alexandra Shipp is Quickly Becoming the Next Hollywood Household Name!

She’s been acting since she was a kid and moved to Los Angeles at seventeen to pursue an acting career. Though you might not know her name now, within a year or so, everyone will! The name is….drumroll please… Alexandra Shipp!

Shipp was born in Phoenix, Arizona and was acting throughout her childhood. She signed with a manager at fourteen and landed her first audition ever, with Nickelodeon. She quickly moved to L.A. at seventeen: soon thereafter the starlet started landing notable roles.

Alexandra had small parts in films like the Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried sci-fi thriller, “In Time” and guest appearances on shows like “Victorious” and “Switched At Birth.” Most recently, she’s been making a stronger name for herself. If you’re wondering why she might look so familiar, it’s probably because– if you’re an R&B fan–you might recognize Shipp as the uncanny actress who played the late Aaliyah in the Lifetime movie “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” in 2014.

Shipp’s performance as Aaliyah met critical reception because die-hard Aaliyah fans are very protective of Aaliyah’s legacy. However, nothing bad was ever said about Shipp’s acting abilities and it led her to be cast in another music-based film in 2015. Shipp is set to portray Kimberly Woodruff, the wife of the rapper Ice Cube, in the biographical drama film “Straight Outta Compton” based on the Compton rap group, N.W.A.

Portraying these well-known, real life characters, Shipp is on the fast track to becoming a household name! If you don’t think playing Aaliyah and Kim Woodruff are enough, then her involvement in the next X-Men film might convince you! Shipp has recently been cast in the upcoming X-Men film, “X-Men: Apocalypse” as the younger version of the mutant, Storm, famously portrayed by Halle Berry in the previous X-Men films. Appearing in a major film franchise has kickstarted mainstream careers of celebs like Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. This is definitely something to be proud of, and no doubt justifies my belief that Alexandra Shipp will be a household name, very soon!
