Fake It Till You Make It: 3 Tips to Seem Like An Experienced Actor

During my coaching sessions many of you ask for advice on breaking into acting with little to no experience. While it’s important to pay your dues, there are ways to build your resume and your credibility quick. Here are my 3 tips for going from a newbie to a pro in no time!

1. Get Out There – Audition for everything. The more you are seen by a casting director, agent, producer etc. the more likely they are to remember you. The more familiarity you build, the more likely you are to book a gig!

2. Express Yourself – Showcase your special skills. Even without many credits to your name you can still show off your talents. Do you dance, sing, play and instrument? Make sure the casting director knows what you are good at!  Give yourself the edge!

3. Educate– You may be new to the party but there is no reason you have to act like it. Educate yourself on the business and technical side of acting. Take a class at the local theatre to hone your skills. It’s also a great addition to your resume.  The more you know about the craft the more likely you are to impress those making the big decisions.
