3 Ways to Boost Your Acting Credits this Summer

The top frustration I hear from my coaching clients is they don’t have any acting credits to their name. If you are just starting your career as an actor, it can be difficult to create a resume that is lacking in professional roles. However, we aren’t going to let that hold us back from our true passion! We all have to start somewhere. Here are 3 tips to boost your credits and land your dream roles!

1. Student Productions – I guarantee you that student’s from the local college or even high school are looking for actors to perform in their films. Look in the paper or online for opportunities right in your neighborhood. A student film is a great way to get your feet wet and learn about the process of being on set. These films could go to a festival or become hits on the web. Take advantage of this readily available option to build your resume!

2. Theatre – While you may dream of seeing yourself on the big screen, theatre is where many of Hollywood’s biggest stars get their start. Performing on stage is a tremendous training ground and easy way to increase your credits. Check in with your local theatre and learn about what shows they are putting on this summer.

3. DIY – Why not star in your own production? Now is the time to create your own content and share it on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, twitter, etc. Get the recognition you deserve while beefing up your credits! Start working on a script and building a cast. Not only is this great experience but you will be helping your acting friends add to their resumes!
